Projects and Updates

I recently finished updating and polishing my portfolio, which you can browse here. I update it quarterly, and give it a more thorough going-over once or twice a year to keep it fresh.

November's blog essay is in the works, and is all about the value and necessity of taking breaks. Even with something enjoyable, such as a creative endeavor, I have learned that taking periodic breaks is crucial. The post will be up on the blog sometime in the first week of the month.

With my portfolio updated and edited, I am actively submitting it to illustration and literary agencies, with my fingers crossed.

And, as always, some nature snaps from a few recent walks. This time of year is so photogentic, I had to restrain myself from posting too many photos.

Sketchbook

I used a couple of these sketches for creating some of the above finished works. I always like my sketches better than the final pieces.

Personal Tidbit

I have always loved roller skating, even as an adult. Many years ago, my husband and I lived in a city, not far from an amusement park that had a great, old roller rink, with wooden flooring and a huge pipe organ. You could rent skates there, but I bought my own pair - white with purple laces, stoppers, and wheels. My favorite time to go to the rink was when they played live pipe organ music from the 1940s. We have since moved away from that neighborhood, and I gave my skates away, but it was a such fun while it lasted.
